Cat Cafes in Sapporo, Hokkaido

Sapporo, Hokkaido

Mataxtabi is a rescue cat shelter and cafe located in Sapporo's Chuo Ward, combining animal welfare with a meaningful social mission. This unique establishment operates as both a cat cafe and a shelter for rescued cats seeking forever homes, while also providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities as part of a welfare initiative. The cafe serves a thoughtful menu featuring house-made keema curry, fluffy omurice, pizza toast plates, avocado toast, and even vegan raw tacos for plant-based visitors. All cafe proceeds go toward supporting the staff members with disabilities, creating a sustainable model that benefits both rescued cats and the local community.
